Welcome to my blog, thanks for visiting!
My name is Genevieve (Gen is fine, if you prefer!) and, first and foremost, I am a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. My husband and I became Christians 5 years ago this Christmas (2018) and God has changed our lives in so many remarkable ways since then, all of which I plan to write about here as I follow the narrow path into His heart.
I am a wife to Mike, mum to Ava (aged 8) and a homemaker who also works full time outside the home at Bible Society.
In addition to this though, I am a Writer. Writing is the thing for me, my calling alongside motherhood. It deeply shapes my identity and I am currently working on a new creative writing project for children, an adventure story book based on Psalm 23.
I find being a Christian so very exciting and the deepest desire of my heart is to see others, both Christians and non-Christians, realise that they have full permission to live the life that Jesus died to give them and that the Father longs for them to live. This is a life where beauty reigns over the fight and one in which we begin to grasp the potential depth of our human experience. We belong to a God who loves to be kind and that kindness can be fully felt and experienced if only we opened our eyes. I want to talk about things that challenge the landscape of how we see ourselves, how we see God, his creation and how we see each other.
“Days pass, the years vanish, and we walk sightless among miracles. Lord, fill our eyes with seeing and our minds with knowing. Let there be moments in which your presence, like lightning, illumines the darkness in which we walk.” – Hebrew Sabbath Prayer.
With that said, all of this is a journey, one which I am very much in the midst of. I have experienced deep brokenness at the hands of depression, anxiety and PTSD after my daughter’s very traumatic birth. I remain a work in progress, often gripped by anxiety but learning more and more to trust Jesus with my life, something not always easy but always worth everything.
Let’s journey together along the narrow path! If you like, you can contact me here.
Here are some (some!) of the things that bring me to life:
Jesus, family, reading, natural living, creativity, words, adventure, adventures with words, walking, music, good design, good coffee, good food, meeting new people (there’s a story behind this!), cooking (I take A LOT of food photos – don’t follow me on Instagram if this is a problem!), singing, traveling and being moved by the beauty and wonder of God and all he has created.
May He bless you with eyes to see and open hearts. Thanks for reading!
